Sweaters and Jeans

Sweaters and jeans -- most of us have a large variety in our closets. No big deal. Comfy, casual, everyday garb.

Or not!

What makes the difference? Why do we need more? Well of course we don't, but we often WANT more.

[[[ SWANSONG ]]] , a new-to-me brand from  AtomicBambi designer AtomicSparkle Skytower, has some just out garments that might have you dieing to go shopping for yet another pair of jeans - not to mention the sweaters.

The Shy Sweater comes in tons of colors. For better or worse I

Steam 3 – The Finale

Finishing up the STEAM 3 Hunt has been fun. I have a few stops left, but as any good blogger knows, it is easier to fill in those style notes when you are wearing something than later when you have to hunt for them *wink*. So here are the photos I took last night.  Some clothes! Yeah. This is a great Victorian suit from ezura. There is apparently one for guys hidden in the store also :D.

This stylishly dapper suit gave me a chance to wear the pocket watch I found a

Those Not Forgotten

I don't Plurk. I am not on Facebook, I don't even have a cell phone -- and neither does my typist.

And I don't often do challenges, but I saw the theme of gone but not forgotten designers and wanted to add one of my favorites to the pool.

This is one of several outfit I still have in my inventory from Nuclear Boutique.  Gone awhile, Arikinui Adria's profile lists her as 1482 days old. She was always very generous and extremely friendly. I hope she is happy in that other world we call

STEAM 3 – Highlights

As I picked up prize 140 from STEAM Hunt 3 and head back to the beginning for the last thirty or so stops, it is easy to see why this is a popular hunt. There are fewer clothing items this round it seems, as least in the gears that I found. Still, there are plenty of "wearables" including this Steampunk Chindoku Spy Gear from Spectral Daisy. Two versions are provided, sized for both gals and guys.

In need of some furnishings for your Victorian abode? This set from Noctis is outstanding. The accessories

I took today off from fashion and design blogging to play a bit. My three month old ocean vista is now a mega hotel that appears to be of the XX variety. So I am experimenting with sky living again -- or at least thinking on it. And along the way, I learned a few things, so I thought I would pass them on.

Many tens of thousands of us -- according to official sources -- are faced with

A Little More STEAM

Unpacking STEAM Hunt prizes in the sandbox finds me with lots of wonderfully creative items that don't go together in the least :D. Since I am no longer enthusiastic over hodgepodge posts, I have decided to show you two -- and only two items that  I found.

The eye patch from .:Bombard:. won the coin toss for pragmatic reasons. I could add it to this close up photo with prize two in the background. Prize two is a huge, 202 prim three story industrial Steampunk complex from Parajen Homes. It is surrounded

Sex Sells

Now I really wouldn't want you to know what to expect at Chic's Place. Where would the fun be in that? So from Steampunk to Hair Fair to furniture and vistas to --

This isn't really a XXX post or even a XXX dress. This new release from OuTRage! called Date Night could be a demure number. Lose the fishnets and gloves, add a little bolero shrug and a tamer coiffure and the harlot becomes prom queen. This cute mini with one piece (mod) skulpty skirt prim is on sale this weekend. The

Summer’s End

Summer is drawing to an end. We can feel it in the crisp morning air, see it in the clarity of the light. Before I bid the warm days goodbye, I clothed myself in transitional season garb, a new release from Indie Rose. Now this playsuit I am wearing in not really that. It is actually a dress -- or part of one. But it is finished so nicely that it can pull double duty. And I, always after comfort, opted for the more casual look of a short jumpsuit.

UrbanizeD Winter Collection

UrbanizeD reveals its new collection and sim redesign tomorrow. I was very pleased to be asked over for a tour. After a difficult morning including an hour in ghost avatar status I was ready for some relaxing vistas.

Seventy-two new releases in five color families make up the new collection. Summer is gone and with it the products for that time. I like the idea of change, knowing that what you see is recent work. Knowing that your purchase will gain "collectible" status in the not too distant future.

There is plenty to explore

Hair Fair 2010

Hair Fair 2010 starts tomorrow. Lots of great new hairstyles, freebies and a good cause. Put them together and you have a Second Life institution. This year's fair is in a Hollywood style tent city -- sort of an on location for the studio feel. The event spans two sims with lots of designers.

In this top photo I am wearing a dollarbie skin from t h e . o B s c e n e, gift hair from Majika, and a free dress from Ivanka Akina. The shrug is separate from the dress

Steam 3 -Wrap Up

With only about fifty stops under my belt, I am nowhere near finishing the STEAM 3 Hunt. Still there are other bits of news on the horizon and while "I" love the creativity inherent in many of these prizes, I know that any theme -- great or not -- loses it's punch eventually. So this will be my last post from Babbage for awhile.

The photo above was actually my last shot of the morning-that-turned-into-afternoon, but since it is the most "fashionable", I am using it for the lead. My boots and corset are

Emerald Viewer – The Swansong

Notecards are floating around the grid. Posts are being made. While I suspect you may see this many places, I wanted to post it here also. Like so many of you I used Emerald. There are always many sides to a story, but getting statements from the major players is likely the best we can do.

See the official Emerald statement by Arabella Steadham here.

See the post by Jessican Lyons here.

If you followed my latest post on Emerald and the question over "texture" as part of the trojan issue, I found some more official info and added it

Steam 3 – Day One – Part 2

I am SO impressed with this hunt. True, there are plenty of  gears missing their prizes and some craftily hidden ones -- and some I just didn't find.  But the quality of the gifts is so high. Without question -- and only judging from the 30 stops I did today (so maybe 22 prizes), this is the best STEAM hunt ever, one of the top hunts that I have ever been on, and by the time I get done it might make it to the top of the "Best Ever" list.

That is just

Steam 3 – Day One

Steam 3 has started and while there are several spots with prizes missing from the gears, those gears do have landmarks -- at least in the section of the hunt I was doing. If you join the group, you can get the hunt location list with LMs.  Some gears are fairly easy to find, some tough. A few I skipped as "too tough". Having the list is a big help.

The prizes so far (I was hunting in the 30s and 40s today) are outstanding. Here a just a few of the things you

Hunting the Hunts

Two big hunts start at midnight -- or we expect them to anyway.  Shrouded in secrecy, it seems like finding the hunts is the first step in going on the hunt. Both Twisted and Steam have hunt blogs, but unlike other informational websites, they are both pretty much empty. No press releases, not even a list of participants appear on the pages.

Hence, I am out here in front of  The Julia Collection. The clock is a fitting prop for this post as we are in fact waiting. I zipped over

Silent Music

Can we have music without sound? Can our hearts float free only in our imagination?

Dancing on rooftops in frozen monochrome, the answer is obvious.

Our hearts can hear the music as easily as our ears.

Adventuring

There is plenty of newness wrapped up in this post as well as a cultural adventure.

The wee small hours of the morn found me opening boxes and straightening inventory. I felt like a casual day; places to go, locales to explore; so jeans seems a good choice. Autumn was on my mind, I have to admit. The seasons do not have to change in SL, but they often follow those of the Northern hemisphere and the mornings have turned chilly in my neck of the RL world.

I also wanted to put

The Next Day

The Next Day is a dark urban role play area that welcomes visitors. It is a photographer's dream -- if that photographer is looking for light against dark, glow amidst gloom and small bits of color punctuating the landscape.

There is an art gallery and a club hidden somewhere amidst the shadows. I didn't find either. What I did find were some dramatic backdrops to show off the new Glam jacket from Blue Blood and the new Tatiana Ruched Dress from WoE.

The Glam jackets released today come in four luscious colors

Can You Spell P-I-N-K?

Hunts are starting again as the month rolls into September. Actually I doesn't seem like they stopped starting in August. I suspect you know what I mean. Most of us know that the Twisted Hunt starts in a few days. I am going to give it a try again this year, but I am not that dedicated a hunter.

Meanwhile ----- if you like pink, there is a hunt starting for you. The THINK PINK HUNT starts on Monday August 30th with Candy Doll as the starting point .

Sprusing Up

The weekend's theme for Spruce Up Your Space is "Dinner Party". There are plenty of cute and clever home decor items. One of my favorites for the week is a sleek and sophisticated bar set from Agent Orange -- happily in a new temporary location at Horst while another shop is in the works.

Two other shops have some items I want to check out, but so far they don't seem available.

Belle Belle has a dinner system (photo here)  with lots of choices for your guests and Alchemy's Attic

A Little More Emerald Drama

I have another pretty picture post coming soon as I hate to leave these text messages at the top of my blog, BUT I really felt I needed to pass along this extra info on Emerald.

I deleted the Emerald viewer last week amidst all the hubbub. Recently a techie friend of mine (edit: who fends of Denial off  Service Attacks on a seemingly weekly basis)  and no longer logs into SL but had Emerald on his system, warned me to be sure and delete the support files as well as the program. I did a search for "Emerald" and

Life is a Caberet

Reasonable Desires has a new release out that is very much my style! And there are so many choices and so many layers you can play all day. I tried to count all the pieces in the folder but kept losing the number. Somewhere around 30 seems to be the correct neighborhood. Just think "many"!

Jackets and corsets and shirts and garters -- oh my! I tried on lots of pieces but fell in love with the open shirt and the one stocking hooked look and built this styling around those pieces. You can

Takumi Hunt – The Hair

I finished the  Takumi Hunt last eve -- my version of finishing anyway. Some pink clam shells are easy to find and other deviously (as in between, inside, on the same color -- or all three) hidden. Some I never found, but we know I am not a great hunter.

But you don't need to hunt to find this great free hair from W&Y. Zip on over to the store and grab two styles of very pretty hair. The giant clams await you at the entrance lobby. This, more casual style is my
