I'll be doing another round of 100 Word Stories today at 6PM Texas Time (4PM SLT) in the Clocktree on Edloe Island. It will only be a half-hour of storytelling. Then you can go off to Lauren's where you might just hear some material I've slid under the table... or, you can take a nap or sort inventory.

There's talk of a Champions Series on First Question, and I've suggested a panel of me, Gary, Lauren, and... did anyone else funny win a show? Just to keep it fair, I'll do a shot for every question I get right. (Gary will also be doing a shot he gets right, so he'll be the designated driver.)

I was pointed in the direction of an excellent recent blogpost by Emilly Orr which poses some interesting concepts about “they” and “we” companies. These terms are brought into the conversation from other sources, but basically a “we company” is all about customer service, focused on driving results for the consumer only and a “they company” has one focus, money.

Microsoft is the most regular example of a “they company” one which drives forward to make revenue, with less compulsion to satisfy its customers or produce a quality product. It’s said that Apple are a “we company” one which strives to keep the customer happy, bring the customer new products and innovations.

Just when you thought that history and archaeology couldn't get any more fun, the Rezzable folks have done it! I love the new Egyptology-themed Monopoly game on Heritage Key! Here I am, riding the Heiroglyphics Reading Railroad: CHOO! CHOO!

The issues never end, do they? First issue was a series of laptop blanks and freezes. Those came about after a Windows Vista patch and then Tweetdeck using Adobe AIR. The video card was overheating and shutting things down, so I blew out the dust with compressed air and got a powered fan base for the laptop. Oh, and bye bye Tweetdeck. Then, I ran into WiFi issues. Neighbors appear to have wireless cards that spray like tomcats with ten pound nutsacks. Had to find a decent cleared channel to avoid their crap, but I connect via a network cable when something's important now. Speaking of ten pound nutsacks... EYES FRONT, SOLDIER! I purchased the iTuTu stand mirror for a bedroom setting I was assembling, and little did I know that when you click on it, it not only gives your avatar height, but also an estimated weight and BMI. According to the Itutu mirror, I am 5 foot 9 inches, and 120 lbs with a BMI of about 15. (“You are skinny” says the mirror. Thanks?)

This is causing me yet again to rethink my avatar shape. Although the height is correct, I am slightly concerned at the weight estimate of my avatar and the social constructs I may well be unwittingly projecting. Of course, I also understand that this may be a cultural thing, to have a mirror in Second Life that tells you all of this statistical data.

I’m just not sure I want a mirror telling me I’m skinny.

I recently heard about a growing and slightly disturbing trend on the SL fashion feeds. It seems everyone and their mother is using cocks and pussies in their blog post photos and store ads!

I am shocked! The poor animals have absolutely no say in this practice. Can you imagine hundreds of innocent cocks and pussies forced to be under hot lights for hours on end while someone takes photographs? Do they even get food and water? A place to rest?

Will cocks and pussies really sell your pixel clothing? No! They can't even wear clothes, for Pete's sake! We feel bad for the poor creatures. Is showing off your cock edgy?? Is showing a furry pussy artsy? No! It is just cruel.

I’ve been on a bit of a dress kick lately, so I apologize for drowning you in cute frocks.  But what can I say?  Sometimes inspiration just hits, and lately it has been dragging me toward the cute, fun, and flirty world of dresses.  I decided to dress this one down a bit and construct my own scene, because decorating is just as much fun for me as putting together an outfit.

Feeling awful this morning. Went to bed a bit after 10, woke up at 4 and never got back to sleep. I'm pretty sure I had a bad reaction to some garlic and onions I chopped up for pasta last night. Lots of gurgling, but very little in the way of forward progress. I needed a day off, anyway. This weekend wasn't any rest at all, and I think I'll just curl up in a ball and moan in the corner. Of course, when I called in sick, the overnight jackass didn't bother telling the morning crew. Got a text message asking if I was coming in. Wonderful. (Fucker.)
